EMBER SERIES:
This collection of paintings I made this year was during a very challenging, emotional time in my life where I had to learn to slowly rebuild who I am. Some paintings are moodier, some are lighter, depicting different emotional states when painting. They showcase a lot of grief and hope. The word ember comes from a Ram Dass meditation I did every day during this time. He says, ‘if in each of us there once was a fire, and for some of us there seems as if are there only ashes now. But when we dig in the ashes, we find one ember. Blow on and it, it’s gets brighter. And from that ember we rebuild the fire.’
